CAROLYN TRUELOVE, LCPC

Carol Truelove is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has been practicing in the mental health field for over 20 years. Carol earned both a B.S. in Psychology with a Concentration in Counseling, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Olivet Nazarene University. She specializes in working with people who experience difficulty with life transitions, who have adjustment disorders, issues of grief and loss, survivors of trauma, relational issues, addiction, self-worth & identity, depression, anxiety and clients who have chronic mental illness.

Carol’s clients have often referred to her as a therapist who is authentic and has ‘heart’. Carol is quick to add, (that doesn’t mean she is a ‘pushover’) – “having a heart also means getting to the heart of the matter” and she can be quite direct.

Carol uses an eclectic approach in counseling, depending on client need. She focuses on client strengths while working with the client on their area(s) of need – a wellness approach while taking into consideration all factors of the client’s life. Unless, of course, a client comes to counseling to focus on one – and only one specific problem. Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy are some of the approaches that Carol uses.

Interesting Fact #1– She is a naturally curious person and is adventurous. She tried – and enjoyed – kayaking a couple of times this summer, has resumed bicycling and enjoys hiking. She also enjoys going out to eat and visiting museums.
