Expressive Arts Therapy
Expressive Arts Therapy is a psychotherapy approach that channels creativity and individualism in order to support emotional growth and healing. It has been known to foster personal transformation, in large part due to sensory awareness. While using multiple senses (a combination of sight, sound, touch, and/or smell), it is possible to explore internal and external conflicts, feelings, and thoughts by experiencing and creating art. Expressive Arts is an umbrella for the various forms of arts, and encompasses painting, sculpting, drawing, music, theater, dance, poetry, collaging, and other creative expressions.
This modality is suited for the majority of the population-- children, adolescents, teens, and adults can all benefit from Expressive Arts Therapy, individually or in groups.
