SAFE SPACES: LGBTQ+ SUPPORT & PROCESSING GROUPS NOW AVAILABLE

Elliott Counseling Group is excited to announce the launch of Safe Spaces, a new therapy group initiative aimed at providing support and fostering community for LGBTQ+ individuals. In response to the evolving political climate and its impact on our community, we are launching two groups: one for teens, to be held in person in Urbana, and another for adults, hosted online. These groups are designed to create inclusive, welcoming environments where participants can share experiences, find connection, and access the resources they need to thrive. 

LGBTQ+ Support & Processing Group for Adults

Starting February 4th, 2025 from 6:00-7:00pm via zoom.  

Registration is NOW OPEN. Spaces are Limited.

This group is appropriate for adults of all genders in the LGBTQ+ community who may be experiencing mental health concerns related to the potential changes in an unsettling, uncertain time and are seeking a safe space for support and processing.  This group will be weekly, for eight weeks, on Tuesdays from 6-7pm online via Zoom. LGBTQ+ Support & Processing Group for Teens (Ages 13-17yrs old)

Starting February 5th, 2025 from 5:00-6:00pm In-person at our Urbana office.  

Registration is NOW OPEN. Spaces are Limited.

This group is appropriate for teens ages 13-17 years old, of all genders in the LGBTQ+ community who may be experiencing mental health concerns related to the potential changes in an unsettling, uncertain time and are seeking a safe space for support and processing.  This group will be weekly, for eight weeks, on Wednesdays from 5-6pm in-person at our Urbana Office. MEET THE ADULT GROUP FACILITATOR

TYLER KOONTZ, LSW

Tyler Koontz is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the mental health field since 2014. He graduated from the University of Illinois. He spent the majority of his early career in Addictions and Crisis counseling with a local Non-Profit. He believes in meeting clients where they are. Furthermore, he focuses on how he can best support them in their mental health journey. Tyler is passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community and dedicates himself to being an Ally and advocate.

MEET THE TEEN GROUP FACILITATOR

ALEXIS GATSES, LCSW

Alexis Gatses earned her social work degree 11 years ago and has dedicated her career to supporting the K-12 population. Originally from the Chicago area, she moved here for school and has been serving our community ever since. Alexis has worked extensively with a range of presenting issues, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, depression, anxiety, complex PTSD, and trauma. She has experience supporting the teen LGBTQ+ population, demonstrating her commitment to inclusivity and understanding.
