Brianna entered the world of Counseling and Therapy in Champaign from her deeply rooted desire to help people.
There are many life experiences on top of her education that provides a variety of ways to work with clients. There are layers upon layers of her own personal life that has presented trials and tribulations to overcome and come out on the other side that has ultimately brought her to where she is today. Also, as a mom of two and a wife to an entrepreneur, she understands what a busy lifestyle is like and the challenges behind balancing many things along with your own self-care and mental health. When it comes to counseling, her philosophy is to understand the client’s perspective, their experiences, and to work together from a holistic standpoint in her treatment plans. She believes that everybody has their own unique need for self-actualization, and it’s her job to support her clients on that journey.
Brianna graduates from Eastern Illinois University with a Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling and is currently an Intern with Elliott Counseling Group and is working towards her Licensed Professional Counselor Credentials (LPC).
The Therapy Approaches Brianna Uses with Clients:
Brianna is grounded in client-centered theory and sees herself as the facilitator to help clients along leveraging her trained knowledge, experience, and therapeutic expertise. She sees her clients as the leader as they know their life the best and she is there to help facilitate changes. Some of her go-to therapy approaches include:
Play Therapy is profoundly powerful when working with children, but can also be leveraged with other ages (even adults). Play therapy is such a broad spectrum and incorporates things such as sand tray therapy, music art, expressive arts, etc. The foundation of play therapy changed Brianna’s life, her outlook on children and adolescents, and even how she parents.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (commonly known as CBT) is goal-oriented therapy treatment where the therapist and patient work together and develop a plan to make changes with thinking patterns and/or behaviors that are the reasons behind the life struggles.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based treatment modality that is aimed to treat emotional dysregulation, adapt challenging behaviors that can impede our lives stemming from that emotional dysregulation, and increase our ability to find peace or stability during moments of crisis or heightened emotions. DBT was created by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., and it is designed to treat a wide range of mental health issues including depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, among others.
When it comes to her own mental health, Brianna does her best to accept what she can't change and to change what she can.
Having that mindset allows for her to stay mentally healthy. It allows her to feel the feelings, process through them, and then let go. She believes in setting healthy boundaries and has worked hard toward not thinking that taking time for herself is selfish – because it is not.
When igniting her own coping skills, she spends time with her family and her dogs, listens to music to reduce stress and lift her spirits, goes to the movies with a loved one or even alone, spends time outdoors, and uses essential oils. It’s important to find what coping skills work for you when it comes to your mental health and feeling your best.
Brianna finds herself to be an introvert and finds that alone time important to re-energize herself.
The Art of The Relationship by Gary Landreth. She found that this book changed her outlook on children and even on how she parents.

Hobbies & Passions
Brianna loves photography, graphic design, concerts, and doing activities with her kids. She often uses her photography and graphic design skills today in her work.
