Kate Wheeler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters of Social Work from Columbia University. Kate has spent several years working with children and adolescents in both clinical and school settings, ranging from the ages of 5-18. Before moving to Illinois, Kate lived in New York, where she most previously worked on an in-patient psychiatric unit in downtown Manhattan. Kate's experience ranges from trauma treatment, child and adolescent behavior disorders/issues, and also works with families.
As a therapist, Kate utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, depending on the client. She also uses expressive arts through journaling or writing as a therapeutic strategy, and places emphasis on goal setting.
Interesting fact#1: Kate is a writer and hopes to find some time going back to her author-roots, now that she's in a calmer city.
