Lawisha Carter is a Licensed Professioinal Counselor with a Masters from Eastern Illinois University. She specializes in treating adults who are seeking counseling for a number of reasons, including but not limited to coping disruptions, gender and identity issues, personality disorders, and domestic violence counseling. She also has ample experience working with children, families, and couples. Lawisha has ran LGBTQ groups, worked in juvenile detention centers, and in outpatient settings in a nearby county Health Department.
When it comes to modalities, Lawisha uses an individualized approach that is catered to the client-- using coping skills, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered approach, or a hybrid. She also channels mindfulness into her sessions, and often refers to Narrative or music/art therapy to help the client express their voice.
