Anger management is not only identified as a desired area of focus for many clients, it has increasingly become a sentencing requirement for individuals convicted of crimes involving aggressive behavior. Elliott Counseling Group therapists routinely provide anger management services in either or both of these capacities. These are usually provided on an individual basis, but, as needed, anger management group services are periodically available as well.
In addition to participating in an interactive therapy experience, clients are educated on identifying unresolved anger issues, using alternative modes of expression of anger, coping with stressors more adaptively, setting limits assertively, and using cognitive-behavioral techniques to change unproductive self-talk and core beliefs.
Anger management services are adapted to meet individual needs and include a report, if necessary, describing the educational protocol, confirming completion of services, and offering any further recommendations.
