Dana Miller is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She has a wide range of interests and experience, and have worked with clients dealing with childhood disorders, adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thinking, relationship problems, substance abuse, trauma, anger management, and chronic mental illness.
She utilizes cognitive-focused, strength-based, play-therapy, acceptance, and person-centered counseling approaches that takes the whole person into account, and has experience with the assessment and treatment of individuals with chronic mental illness and individuals who are dealing with suicidal thoughts and self-harm. She has worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings with a wide variety of clientele, and considers creating a supportive and accepting client relationship vital to a positive counseling experience.
Interesting Fact #1: I love to travel and always am up for new adventures. From paddle boarding, parasailing, jet skiing, scuba diving, snowboarding, hiking or visiting theme parks, I've done them all and love being active. I've seen 22 states and hope to visit all 50 in my lifetime.
Interesting Fact #2: In my spare time, i enjoy biking, yoga, cooking, shopping, watching movies, visiting my family up north, watching baseball (Go Cubbies!) and fishing.
